Dubrovnik has a strong tradition of producing great water polo players as well as being home to one of Europe’s most successful clubs (VK Jug). At the London Olympics in 2012, six of the victorious Croatian Water polo team were from Dubrovnik’s Jug team, bringing the gold medal back to the Old Town in a triumphant parade that saw hundreds line the Stradun to celebrate.
Dubrovnik’s water polo stars feature in a new campaign ‘Croatia Loves Water Polo’ shot by fashion photographer Goran Matijašec. Andro Bušlje, Nikša Dobud and Marko Bijač all play for VK Jug and were joined by players Maro Jokovic and Paulo Obradovic who hail from the city on the shoot.
Jug and Croatian team goalman Marko Bijač took to his role as a model well, “The shooting of the campaign was interesting and somewhat funny because we are not used to this kind of shoot, so this was a real challenge. The photos turned out great and we are happy to promote water polo in this way!”
The photos have been published ahead of Croatia’s match against Greece on December 10th.
