50 Thousand Passengers Will Come to Dubrovnik This Winter via Freebird Airlines Europe and WTouristic

The first winter charter flight in cooperation with Freebird Airlines Europe and travel agency WTouristic landed at Dubrovnik Airport at the beginning of this week. Freebird Airlines Europe is the first airline that will start charter flights in the winter season 2022/2023 to destinations in Germany, Austria, Scandinavia and the UK as part of the winter programme organized by the WTouristic travel agency.

As the director of Dubrovnik Airport Viktor Šober pointed out, 50 thousand tourists should come in Dubrovnik on these flights – until mid-December and again from January to June. As the director of Wtouristic agency Akkan Mahmut pointed out, 95 percent of their arrangements have been sold till this day, adding that this programme started in 2018.

‘As a travel agency, we started doing winter tourism in Dubrovnik. We hope that the others will follow in these footsteps and that the hotels will support us by operating throughout the winter’, Mahmut said and pointed out the large number of people, 50 thousand of them, who are coming to Dubrovnik.

‘We are talking about very important markets such as the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, and these are the guests who traditionally come to us even in the summer flight regime. We are glad that this winter period is also becoming full. For us, these 50 thousand tourists mean a lot’ Mr Šober continued and also pointed out that for the time being, Vueling will fly to Dubrovnik from Barcelona during the winter, and British Airlines and Turkish Airlines with flights to Istanbul have also confirmed operations.

Freebird Airlines Europe starts with flights from/to Dubrovnik Airport as part of the winter charter programme organized by the travel agency WTouristic. The programme will take place in two parts and Freebird will operate in the periods from September 26 to December 14, 2022 and from February 12 to June 5, 2023.

As part of the first part of the programme, it will operate to destinations in Germany, such as Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Hannover, Leipzig and Stuttgart, and to destinations in the United Kingdom – London – LGW and Manchester, while in the second part of the programm traffic to destinations in Germany, Scandinavia, Belgium and the UK. As a first part of the winter programme, 24 thousand seats will be available on those routes, while 34 thousand seats will be available through the second part of the programme.

The company first started operating via Dubrovnik Airport on September 30, 2019, and then the first part of the winter charter programme was completed. The second part of the winter programme 2019/2020. which started in February 2020 amid the onset of the COVID 10 pandemic was discontinued on March 16, 2020.

This year, from February 21 to June 4, flights from the second part of the 2021/2022 winter programme were successfully operated. During the next winter season 2022/2023. a complete winter charter programme will be implemented.
