Ana Konjuh Lifts Trophy At Australian Open

Ana Konjuh, Dubrovnik teen tennis star has won the junior girls’ doubles final at the Australian Open in Melbourne with partner Carol Zhao.

The pair defeated Ukranian Oleksandra Korashvili and Czech Brabora Krejcikova 5:7, 6:4, 5:7 ( 10:7) providing Ana with her first grand slam title ever.

A potential double title awaits the young teen who having defeated Russian Elizaveta Kulichkova in the semi final of the junior girls’ singles, has secured a place in the final against Czech Katerina Siniakova. Konjuh defeated Kulichkova 6:2, 3:6, 6:1, after securing the first in just 23 minutes, the second set saw her lose form temporarily which she then regained in the third set to secure victory.

Ana will play in the final of the junior girls’ singles at 12:30 pm (2:30 am in Croatia) on Saturday 26th January.
