Blockbuster Assembled on Dubrovnik Streets: The Shooting of ‘Oslo’ Has Officially Begun

The filming of ‘Oslo’, the new feature film in HBO’s top production had begun this Saturday in our City. The film crew took up space in front of Sponza Palace, where they shot the first scenes of this upcoming blockbuster. Numerous scenes were filmed trough the side streets of the Old Town, while the filming equipment, neatly stored, took a part of the parking lot at Tennis-Tabor at the north entrance of the City.

The director and producer of the film is Bartlett Sher, a celebrated Broadway producer and one of the most original artists in the American theatre world. Although being a Tony award winner, and nine times nominee, ‘Oslo’ is his debut work on the movie screen.

Sher is accompanied by Janusz Zygmunt Kamiński, one of the biggest faces in the cinema world. The famous Polish cinematographer, film and television director began his career in the United States, and gained fame in the 1990s with his work on the films ‘Schindler’s List’ and ‘Saving Soldier Ryan’, for which he won an Oscar for Best Picture. Connoisseurs and fans of the film industry will say that Kamiński is one of the greatest filmmakers to arrive in Dubrovnik after Francis Ford Coppola.

‘Oslo’ is a story about the attempt of Norwegian humanitarians to implement a peace initiative between Palestinians and Israelis in the early 1990s. The audience already had the pleasure of seeing its adaptation on the theatre stage, bit now all the film lovers will get a chance to experience this unique story on the big screen as well.
