Croatian Top 10: Rovinj is First, Dubrovnik Second!

The Ministry of Tourism announced the Top 10 Croatian destinations with the highest number of overnight stays in 2015.

This year’s champion is Istrian city Rovinj with 3 million and 267 thousand overnights while Dubrovnik took second place with 3 195 019 overnight stays. The third place went to Porec with 3,085,575 overnight stays, the 4th to Medulin with 2,432,309 overnight stays and fifth to Umag, which had 2,218,790 overnight stays.

Top-ranked island destination is the island of Losinj (the 6th place and 1,886,023 overnight stays) while the city Zagreb is declared as the best continental destination with 1,775,290 overnight stays. Zagreb took seventh place, and 8th place went to Pula and its 1,635,471 overnight stays. This year Dalmatian Split was ninth with 1,577,681 overnight stays while the tenth place belonged to small Istrian municipality Tar Vabriga with 1,570,156 overnight stays.

Otherwise, all the top ten destinations achieved a growth in overnight stays compared to 2014 – Split had an increase of 17 %, Zagreb 12.6 %, 9.1 % and Umag Porec 8.7 %. Dubrovnik had an increase of 5.5 percent and Rovinj of 4 percent.
