A smaller, electric route designed to ease pressure around the city centre
Dubrovnik introduced its new 8A circular line on 29 April 2025, adding a fully electric mini-bus route designed to reduce traffic pressure around the Old Town. The new line runs on the route Viktorija – Pile – Ina (Pod dubom) – Ilijina glavica – Viktorija, linking key points around the historic centre in a smaller loop.
A practical new option for getting closer to the centre
The idea behind the new service is simple: instead of driving all the way around the most sensitive central area, people can leave their cars outside the special traffic zone and use the 8A to reach the Old Town more easily. City officials presented the line as part of a broader effort to relieve congestion around the historic core and improve movement for both residents and visitors.
Electric, compact and better suited to the area
The vehicle operating on the route is a new fully electric mini-bus with capacity for 22 passengers. The City said it was the first new fully electric mini-bus of its kind in regular use in Croatia, and described the line’s initial operating regime as a trial phase.
Part of a wider transport rethink
The launch of line 8A was also presented as the first in a wider set of measures aimed at easing traffic around Dubrovnik’s historic centre. The city linked it directly to the wider effort to manage movement around the special traffic zone and announced that further transport changes would follow with later park-and-ride development.
