Dubrovnik Will Party In To The EU

As Croatia prepares to enter the European Union on the 1st of July, the City of Dubrovnik has put together a program to ensure that locals party their way in to this historic new chapter.

Starting with Sebastian Ingrosso’s DJ set at Culture Club Revelin on Friday night, the weekend is filled wit concerts and live performances. Saturday night will see the Stradun come to life with a special concert by local male vocal groups Klapa Kase, Alegria and Subrenum. Croatian pop queen Severina will take to the stage at 10 pm for a two hour concert of her biggest hits.

Norwegian brass band Janitsjar will open the celebrations on Sunday, Croatia’s last day before EU entry, at 7 pm on the Stradun. They’ll be followed by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra performing at the Rector’s Palace with. At 10 pm children from the local art school will perform pieces before the action moves back to the Stradun where folklore ensemble FA Lindo will perform.

Libertas Choir will perform Ode to Joy at midnight in front of St. Blaise’s Church officially taking Dubrovnik in to the European Union. A champagne reception at Gradska Kavana will close the celebrations which will cost around 200,000 HRK.
