Emperor Akihito To Visit Konavle?

Konavle Council Leader, Luka Korda hosted the Japanese Ambassador to Croatia, Masaru Tsuiji at Konavoski Dvori restaurant on Thursday.
This was the Ambassador’s first visit to Konavle and came in preparation for the arrival of a Japanese delegation expected to visit the area in June. According to unofficial information the delegation is set to be led by the Japanese Emperor Akihitio who has been in position in the country since 1989.

Ambassador Tsuji told reporters this was his forst trip to Konavle, ”This area has made a big impression on me. A large number of Japanese tourists visit Dubrovnik and Konale and for that reason tourism is an area that wish to work on with Croatia. The River Ljuta, the greenery, vineyards, it’s all simply beautiful.”

Luka Korda emphasised that Japan was a long running friend of Croatia, ”There are around nine thousand people living in Konavle and some 130 million plus in Japan. If they give us even just one more small village to be twinned with we’ll be happy.”
