The Dalmatia region is affected by a fire of incredible proportions, due to high temperatures and winds. Numerous fire units in Zadar and Sibenik-Knin counties have been fighting the expansion of the fires for hours. The situation is particularly serious in Zaton, a village located 10 kilometers north of the city of Šibenik, Total Croatia reports.
No injuries have been reported yet, and fire units from Lika-Senj and Split-Dalmatia are on duty to, as well as the army forces who joined. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Deputy Prime Ministers Davor Božinović and others headed to Šibenik area. All available forces are in operation to bring the fires under control and protect property and people.
Yesterday, a large area above Dubrovnik was also engulfed in fire. A fire broke out in an open area on Srđ hill, above Nuncijata. The JVP Dubrovnik Firefighters with 18 firefighters and seven vehicles, the State Intervention Unit with 12 firefighters and four vehicles and DVD Župa Dubrovnik with six firefighters and two vehicles were participating in it. The fire was localized at 6:35 PM the Dubrovnik firemen reported.
Hopefully, the fire in Šibenik area will be over soon.
