Game Of Thrones Season 4 Filming Begins

Filming has begun for season 4 of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones at the arboretum in Trsteno just outside of Dubrovnik.

”Dubrovnik has become a part of the Game of Thrones and the public will miss it if we don’t return. We like to be here, they accept us well and we constantly find new locations for filming. This year there will be several new surprises, but I can’t say anymore than that. This year we will be filming for six weeks in Dubrovnik and Split.” Producer Bernadette Caulfield told press today.

On the set today was HAVAC (Croatian Audiovisual Centre) director Hrvoje Hribar who explained how the filming of the popular series in Dubrovnik had two effects – one measurable, the other not, ”The measurable part is that for every Kuna that Game of Thrones invests Croatia makes 2.5 Kuna. The other, immeasurable effect is the fact that 100 million people watch the series.” adding that this year the series would invest 40 million HRK in Croatia and receive 8 million HRK from the Croatian government in subsidies.

Although the main cast members are still yet to arrive, we ‘caught’ Natalie Dormer who plays Margaery Tyrell, introduced in the second series, on set.

Because of the strict rules and protocols, only accredited media were able to visit the press conference, and make a mini-photo gallery. For more photos from the set visit duList, our Croatian sister portal.
