Besides anticipated premieres, part of this season’s reprise programme are hit plays from previous festival seasons among which is a Saša Božić original project Mara and Kata made in collaboration with Nataša Dangubić and Doris Šarić Kukuljica who portray the titular characters. Mara and Kata have won over the hearts of the festival audiences and once again this year theatre-goers are looking for a ticket extra for their performances on Kazerma set to be played from 1 to 4 August.
The play Mara and Kata is inspired by the popular 1960’s Radio Dubrovnik show At Home With the Gossipmongers and the Desa Begović Mrkušić book The Gossipmongers of Dubrovnik, picking up where the original gossipers stopped. These ‘courtyard analysts’, accompanied by the sweet melodies of Dubrovnik’s evergreens, comment sharply on the Town’s present and past social phenomena.
