The Lokrum Island Reserve continuously improves the waste disposal system from the island. Thus, this Institution – with the primary aim of preserving the island’s fundamental values and aligning with the current legal regulations in the area of nature conservation and sustainable waste management – with the beginning of the year did the final disposal of the waste collected on the island over a long period of years.
During this process, waste has been dispatched from the island with a help of authorized waste collection and disposal institutions, primarily a big amount of plant waste, caused by windswings over the years, as well as waste coming from regular horticultural works on the island.
The waste was sorted and taken by freight cargo from island to authorized collector.
