Monumental Motion Exhibition At Ethnographic Museum

A new exhibition titled Monumental Motion is set to open on Friday at Dubrovnik’s Ethnographic Museum. The photographic exhibition of works by Mikael Colville Andersen has been organised by the Danish Embassy in Croatia, Dubrovnik museums and Konavle Bicycle Club to mark Croatia’s impending entry to the European Union.

The main goal of the exhibition is to promote Danish bicycle culture, providing positive examples through healthy living, energy conservation and sustainable development, and to display the bike as multipurpose transport.

Andersen presents 50 photographs that define the life cycle in the city of cyclists. Over more than four years he documented the cycling culture in the Danish capital, and, surprisingly, was the first person to do so in such a detailed way in the 125-year history of the bicycle. The result is 50 photographs – selected from as many as 10 thousand people – that tell the story of an important and powerful role that bike plays in the life of Copenhagen.

The exhibitions opens on Friday the 10th of May at 6 pm with a lecture by Andersen at 7 30 pm.
