This summer, from 1st to 28th June, Dubrovnik or better said Fort Lovrijenac, will host a new festival named Midsummer scene. This festival is a new festival, which will mostly likely become an annual event and is designed as a platform for future international concepts and collaborations.
This year Dubrovnik wants to join the world celebrations on a very important date, i.e. 450th Anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth. Dubrovnik is joining by staging one of the Bard’s most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The play will be held in one of the world’s most evocative and atmospheric venues, Fort Lovrijenac, same as other performances which will be held every evening during the festival, starting at 9.30 pm.
The Festival Midsummer scene symbolically begins on the first day of summer, lasting well into the main tourist season.
Midsummer scene is a brand new project sponsored by the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board, and is a joint production of Brilliant Events Dubrovnik and Honey-tongued Theater Productions Ltd. London.
