Noir Mystique in the City

Between August 17 and August 27, Dubrovnik is a host to the exclusive artist film event, Dubrovnik Noir Nights. It is part of the program of the 63rd Dubrovnik Summer Festival with venues in Sponza Palace and Slavica Cinema under the Stars, where the residents and their guests will be able to enjoy the program of the NOIR Festival that took place in Zagreb for the second year in a row. Noir program in Dubrovnik includes the selection of noir films given under the stars and the exhibition of the remake photos named Double Identity by famous Croatian artist Saša Šekoranja.

The exhibition Double Identity was presented in Zagreb and Sarajevo, and it is a certain remake of scenes from classic noir films featuring the most famous actors from the region, that is, from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, in the roles of unforgettable characters from noir films taken by Saša Šekoranja.

The extraordinary selection of noir films will include the classics as well as neo-noir films in Slavica Cinema under the Stars. Besides the two classics, The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) and Double Indemnity (1944), the program includes the premiere of the neo-noir The Woman in the Fifth (2011) directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, featuring famous stars Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas. The intriguing plot is full of neo-noir elements such as murder, mystery and passion.
