German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Dubrovnik. Merkel was welcomed by presidents Ivo Josipovic and Borut Pahor, and then accompanied by the Minister Vesna Pusic, Mayor Andro Vlahusic and other participants in the Brdo-Brijuni process meeting, walked down the Stradun. Shaking hands with passersby. She was welcomed like a movie star, everybody wanted to see her, some were screaming and Spanish tourists were booing her, but Merkel kept a smile on her face.
She then entered the Rector’s Palace, where she held a meeting with the leaders of countries in the region, on the topic of regional consolidation of these areas.
Due to the arrival of the world’s most powerful woman, high security measures were taken in the city and the Palace was closed to the public.
