Tomorrow, we are marking the Christian festival celebrated in honour of all the saints, known and unknown, and today begins the joint celebration of All Saints and All Souls Day… Families visit the graves of their former family members during these days, traditionally laying white chrysanthemums and lighting candles.
The reason of this ceremonials is a strong Christian belief that there is a powerful spiritual bond between those in heaven (the ‘Church triumphant’), and the living (the ‘Church militant’). Thus, during this period, every cemetery is a place of honor, decorated to remember the importance of those who left us too early.
