Valamar Junior Open 2018, the Croatian championship for competitors up to 19 years, started this Friday and will take place in Dubrovnik until this Sunday. Around 140 young players from 35 countries from four continents participate in this tournament, collecting scores for the qualifications for the Youth Olympic Games 2018, thus some of the best junior players in the world are currently in Dubrovnik.

The tournament is held for the fourth year in a row at the Gospino Polje Sports Hall and is organized by the Badminton Club Aedium, whose young members have been making success at the national and international level for many years despite training in inadequate space for several decades. More precisely, they are currently forced to train in a hangar, where sports efforts are very often extremely difficult and unbearable in winter and summer conditions.

Croatia is represented by ten players: Luka Ban, Borna Car, Fran Pipunić and Inga Sadaić from Zagreb, Luka Grubić and Laura Horvat from Čakovec, and home representatives Mia Čerjan, Barbara Janičić, Lukša Zlošilo and Maris Guca from Dubrovnik.
