Photo Gallery: The Nutcracker Story

One of the most beautiful and popular classical ballets that traditionally fascinates children and adults all over the world at Christmas time, The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, was held last night in Dubrovnik as part of the sixth Dubrovnik Winter Festival. It was performed by the Ukrainian Classical Ballet ensemble @ the Sports Hall in Gospino polje.

The author of choreography is one of the most renowned choreographers, ballet master and winner of numerous awards and international recognitions, Valery Petrovich Kovtun. The Ukrainian Classical Ballet company, whose soloists of the National Opera and Ballet, Kateryna Kurchenko and Serhii Klichain, are winners of a number of Ukrainian ballet awards and recognitions, gave this classical tale and Kovtun’s traditional choreography modern appearance with unique set design and directing solutions, impressive decor and costumes and modern video projections.

This exceptionally popular ballet company gives around 300 ballet performances a year and last year they performed The Nutcracker over 70 times.
