These days the gorgeous Elaphiti Island of Lopud is richer for another cultural and leisure content. The Ponta Lopud Festival, in cooperation with the Sarajevo Film Festival, presents a unique first edition of this kind of event bringing film screenings to fabulous locations under the stars. The creative meetings of film professionals and film lovers, and gourmet experiences with socializing in the relaxed atmosphere of the island make this event even special.
The festival was officially opened with a film screening of the hit film ‘Cold War’ by the special guest of this year’s festival, celebrated director, and Oscar winner Pawel Pawlikowski. Along with Pawlikowski and many other esteemed guests, the celebrated Bosnian Oscar winner Danis Tanović and one of the most important independent filmmakers, Mexican director Michel Franco, also graced Lopud’s “red carpet”.
The organizers paid special attention to the coexistence of the local population and festival guests through the active involvement of the islanders in numerous program events. Festival creators – director Tilda Grossel Bogdanović and Mirsad Purivatra, director of the Sarajevo Film Festival, spoke candidly for DuList and revealed they wanted to create an organic concept that will, hopefully, in the future present a challenge for all film professionals and a delight for the people of Lopud.
