Renaissance Garden In The Villa Bunić-Kaboga 2023: Arcadia

The Renaissance Garden project is based on a contemporary interpretation of cultural heritage. The visit to the renovated renaissance villa Bunić Kaboga from the 16th century includes a thematically conceived music performance. It is a unique experience and a perfect getaway from the crowded historical City center into the magical ambience of Dubrovnik aristocratic summer residences-places of pleasance, creativity and freedom.

This year’s edition is based on the legacy of Dubrovnik’s noble lady Jelena Pozza Sorgo, who is foremost known as one of the first Croatian female composers. The performance entitled Arcadia is  an artistic intervention which brings together widespread opera pasticcio performance practice from the 18 century and a deconstruction of a salon gathering in the authentic pastoral ambience of Dubrovnik summer villas and their gardens in which the rich cultural and social life once took place.

The author of the project is a pianist and artistic leader of The Rest is Music NGO Ivana Jelača. The project is realized with the support of the Caboga Stiftung Foundation, the City of Dubrovnik, and the Dubrovnik Tourist Board in collaboration with Dubrovnik Heritage PLC.
