Tradition and people

Photo Gallery: St. Nicholas, dwarves and elves at the party in Dubrovnik

Christmas bells already resonate strongly through Dubrovnik and its surroundings, there are more and more winter activities, happiness and sharing can be seen on every corner of the city. That kind of atmosphere was something that even St. Nicholas didn´t want to miss. Therefore on last weekend, on St.Nicholas’ day, he decided to visit the Croatian south where he delivered gifts to children. Joy overflowed the City but the merriest was the Parish Rozat where St. Nicholas came with two little angels and two incubuses. Children enthusiastically enjoyed their visit and the special program during which St. Nicholas gave them sweets and toys.

The tradition as a gift

This celebration began at the House of Culture in Mandaljena where an exhibition of unique handicrafts was opened. Every day from 8 am to 6 pm visitors can see traditional souvenirs of Zupa dubrovacka as well as numerous Christmas ornaments. Exhibition called ‘Shine and traditions of Christmas in the Zupa’ this year represents the wonderful works of Ana Miloslavic, Ksenija Keka Zec, and works of Kleskovic family.

Elves visited the city

But it was the merriest in Luza at the dance with the Ice queen, dwarves and elves who greeted the children before the projection of a 3D film ‘The Penguins of Madagascar’. The film was screened at Freedom cinema. Before the matinee, kids danced along their favorite Christmas songs, they mingled with dwarfs and elves, had fun in a sweet house, wrote a messages on a tree of desire, and some of them listened fairy tales read by The Ice Queen. Children’s holiday program at Luza will continue next week, so do not miss it if you have a child, or even if you just want to feel what is like to be a child again, be it for just one day…
