The 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival Starts on Saturday

Raising of the Libertas flag to the verses of the “Hymn to Liberty”, in front of the St.Blaise church, will mark the opening of the 72nd Dubrovnik Summer Festival on Saturday, July 10, at 9 p.m.

This marvellous occasion will be directed by Hrvoje Korbar, with performances of the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra under the baton of maestro Stjepan Vuger, the percussion quartet Percussion Club, Linđo Folklore Ensemble, and Festival Drama Ensemble joined by drama and dance students of the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Arts. The traditional fireworks will take place right after the end of the Opening Ceremony.

Opening Ceremony general rehearsal in front of the audience is planned for Friday, July 9, at midnight in front of the St.Blaise church, however, due to the limited number of seats following the COVID measures, tickets have to be picked up earlier at the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1).

During the 47 days of the Festival, all visitors will be able to enjoy about 70 drama, music, dance and other performances on 15 stages and site-specific locations in and around Dubrovnik.

An EU digital COVID pass or other valid proof of vaccination, negative test results or having already recovered from the infection are needed to attend the ceremony.

Continuing the practice from last year, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival invites citizens who would like to attend the Opening Ceremony in front of the Church of St. Blaise, and meet the above criteria, to pick up tickets at the box office at the Festival Palace (Od Sigurate 1) from July 8, from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
