Ston oyster farmers, after a two-year break, could hardly wait to present their most delicious and by far the most famous product to many oyster lovers. On the Feast of St. Joseph, many oyster enthusiasts headed out to Brijesta and Bistrina, where ‘The Day of the Mali Ston oyster’ was finally held. It was precisely the Mali Ston oyster that made the Pelješac peninsula so famous and put it on the gastronomic map of the world. Real gourmets around the world can’t wait to come and enjoy the unique flavour of Mali Ston oyster, which is believed to be the tastiest and juiciest oyster in the world.
‘The Day of the Mali Ston oyster’ is traditionally held every year in the month of March, which is also known as ‘The month of the oyster’ because they are the fullest and tastiest at that time. But unfortunately, for the past two years, due to epidemiological conditions, we have not been able to enjoy this well-loved specialty.
With the sounds of Dalmatian songs, top Pelješac wines and traditional local products of the Pelješac peninsula, many decided to spend this beautiful spring day on Pelješac, alongside our photographer Zvonimir Pandža whose photos and videos are the best evidence of how much we missed this unique event.
