The Guardian: On Mljet you will drink the best wine and swim in the most beautiful sea!

According to The Guardian, Mljet is one of the ten best European islands. Thankfully to this ‘beauty’ located near Dubrovnik, Croatia joined the company with Greece, Island, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Estonia and Hungary. The island, on which Odysseus was allegedly held captive for seven years by the nymph Calypso, was described like this:
‘One of Croatia’s southernmost islands, it’s best known for exceptional local produce and wild beauty. There are excellent hiking opportunities around the two saltwater lakes in Mljet National Park and it is possible to hire a sailing boat to reach the 12th-century Benedictine monastery on Melita Island.’
If you ever come to Mljet, they say, you will swim in some of the clearest water in the Adriatic; drink one of the best Croatian wines – Dingac and Postup are produced on the island; and try the best food as raw mussels drizzled with lemon juice. So don’t doubt – reserve one of the rooms in the one and only Mljet’s hotel – Odisej Mljet, and buy a ticket for a ferry, which will take you from Dubrovnik to this incredible paradise in the Sea.
