The Magical World of the Nutcracker Brought by the Ukrainian Classical Ballet

One of the most beautiful and popular classical ballets that traditionally fascinates children and adults all over the world at Christmas time, The Nutcracker by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will be performed as part of the sixth Dubrovnik Winter Festival by the Ukrainian Classical Ballet ensemble on 10 December 2019 at 7.30 pm at the Sports Hall in Gospino polje.

The author of choreography is one of the most renowned choreographers, ballet master and winner of numerous awards and international recognitions, Valery Petrovich Kovtun. The Ukrainian Classical Ballet company, whose soloists of the National Opera and Ballet, Kateryna Kurchenko and Serhii Klichain, are winners of a number of Ukrainian ballet awards and recognitions, gave this classical tale and Kovtun’s traditional choreography modern appearance with unique set design and directing solutions, impressive decor and costumes and modern video projections which will impress even the most demanding ballet audiences. This exceptionally popular ballet company gives around 300 ballet performances a year and last year they performed The Nutcracker over 70 times.

Tickets for this classical ballet Christmas fairy tale with a modern twist are sold at the price of 70 and 100 kn, and they are available online via www.ulaznice.hr ticketing service as well as at the Cultural Information Centre in Luža and restaurant Dubravka at Brsalje.

In addition to The Nutcracker, the sixth Dubrovnik Winter Festival brings many other programmes for children and this year the central meeting point, the North Pole Station, will be located at the Bursa Theatre. Popular singer Mia Dimšić will perform at New Year’s Eve Party for children, and the traditional Christmas Tale and Cake Party featuring Domenica will also take place.
