French chansons performed by Tereza Kesovija

Tereza Kesovija accompanied by Ante Gelo on the guitar, Mladen Kosovec on the accordion and Filip Gjuda on the piano, will perform French chansons as a part of the programme ‘Evening Serenades’ on Wednesday, 19th August, in Skocibuha Summer Residence on Boninovo, starting at 10 pm instead of 11 pm as announced earlier.

Tereza’s successes and musical greatness and prestige in our region are unquestionable, as confirmed by numerous awards and countless performances, but she started building her significant career in France during the 60s and 70s. In 1966, she recorded Lara’s song (La chanson de Lara) from the movie Doctor Zhivago. It was her first big success in France and album has been sold in more than 50 000 copies. After that, she records her second French album C’est ma chanson with the song Je l’aime which was been sold in more than 160 000 copies. During her stay in France, she collaborated with stars like Serge Lama, Gilbert Bécaud, Juliette Greco and Michel Legrand with whom she held a big concert at Dubrovnik Summer Festival in 2002. Highlights of her career are her solo performances in the Olympia in Paris during the 60s and two recitals held in 1988 and again in 2007 that were recorded on CD and DVD releases.

She was awarded Knighthood of High Decoration of Arts and Culture for extraordinary accomplishments in culture  (Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres) presented to her by the President of France and she was also bestowed with the Golden Chart of Humanism for humanism and peace.

On the programme in Skočibuha Summer Residence called Je t’aime she will perform La chanson de Lara, Je suis malade, Le temps des cathédrales, Et c’est pour toi, Les feuilles mortes and many other most beautiful French chansons. This concert represents the finale of the new Dubrovnik Summer Festival off programme ‘Evening Serenades’ sponsored by Croatia osiguranje, during which 6 concerts inspired by traditional music from different cities and different cultures were held in July and August.
