Traffic Restrictions Around Dubrovnik’s Old Town Have Been Lifte

From 1 December 2025, traffic around Dubrovnik’s Old Town is once again open without permits, as the city’s special traffic zone enters its winter pause.

Access around the historic centre is open again from 1 December

From 1 December 2025, traffic around Dubrovnik’s historic centre is once again open without permits or special restrictions. The city’s special traffic regulation zone around the Old Town, which first came into force on 2 June, has now been temporarily suspended for the winter period.

No pass required until the zone returns in spring

During the period in which the zone was active, only vehicles with regulated permit status and vehicles with a PPK card were allowed to circulate around the historic centre. With the winter suspension now in place, that restriction no longer applies. According to the same announcement, the special traffic regime is set to return on 1 March 2026.

A seasonal shift in how the city moves

The change marks a clear seasonal transition in Dubrovnik. What was introduced during the busier part of the year as a controlled traffic regime around the Old Town is now paused, reflecting the different rhythm of the city in winter. A press conference on the first year of the scheme was also announced for the same day.
