The Mayor of Dubrovnik Mato Franković, Deputy Mayor Jelka Tepšić and Head of the Administrative Department for European Funds, Regional and International Cooperation Zrinka Raguž received the Qatari Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani and his delegation this Saturday, with Frano Matušić, State Secretary in Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia also attending the meeting.
The honourable Sheikh arrived in Dubrovnik because Al Faisal Holding is interested in exploring business and investment potentials with an emphasis on the hotel and tourism segment, and the possibilities of developing cultural cooperation between Doha and Dubrovnik were also discussed.
Prior to the meeting, Sheikh Al Thani and his delegation, consisting of his sons and other representatives of Al Faisal Holding, took a leisurely stroll down Stradun accompanied by Mayor Franković who, to the sheikh’s great delight, briefly introduced them to the rich history of Dubrovnik and its significance in the time of the Dubrovnik Republic.
Sheikh Al Thani is the founder and CEO of Al Faisal Holding, one of the leading and largest Qatari companies based in Doha. Al Faisal Holding conglomerate was founded in 1964 with extensive business in as many as eight different sectors, especially in trade, manufacturing, services, with special emphasis on their portfolio in real estate management and hospitality because the company owns and manages over 20 hotels worldwide, in Washington, Miami and London, among others.
