US Dolphins Demining Dubrovnik Waters

The dolphins which arrived last week in Dubrovnik from San Diego have been practicing their skills in Zaton bay. The Naval Marine Mammal Program (NMMP) trains the dolphins to detect mines and unexploded devices. During their stay in Croatia the dolphins will detect explosives in the waters around Dubrovnik that remain from the First ad Second World War as well as the Homeland War of the 1990’s. The project known as Dolphin 13 will see US trained specialist work with Croatian divers to locate and identify devices and ultimately dispose of them safely. Take a look at our photo gallery to see the dolphins at work.
