A Global Recognition for a Dubrovnik Icon
Villa Dubrovnik has once again placed the city on the international luxury travel map. The renowned hotel has been included on the prestigious Prix Versailles World’s Most Beautiful Hotels List 2026, joining an exclusive selection of only 16 hotels from around the globe.
The recognition celebrates hotels that stand out not only for their beauty, but also for the way they connect architecture, design, local identity and the surrounding landscape. Later this year, three of the selected hotels will receive additional world titles for interior or exterior design.
Where Architecture Meets the Adriatic
Set above the Adriatic Sea, with views stretching towards Lokrum and Dubrovnik’s historic city walls, Villa Dubrovnik has long been one of the city’s most elegant addresses. Its latest international recognition comes after a major renovation led by the acclaimed Brazilian architect Arthur Casas.
The hotel’s new look brings together Mediterranean simplicity, contemporary luxury and carefully chosen local materials. Limestone, oak, stucco and warm natural tones shape an atmosphere that feels refined, calm and deeply connected to Dubrovnik.
A Protected Building with a New Chapter
Villa Dubrovnik was originally designed in 1961 by Croatian architect Mladen Frka. Today, the hotel continues to honour that architectural heritage while opening a new chapter through a refreshed interior vision and a stronger dialogue with its dramatic coastal setting.
Rather than competing with the view, the design enhances it. The sea, stone, light and silence remain at the centre of the experience, giving the hotel the sense of quiet luxury that has made it recognisable far beyond Croatia.
More Than a Beautiful Hotel
The Prix Versailles selection is not the only major recognition Villa Dubrovnik has received in recent years. The hotel has also been associated with some of the world’s leading luxury travel networks and guides, while its renovation has attracted attention from international design and travel media.
For Dubrovnik, this latest recognition is more than an award for one hotel. It is also a reminder of the direction in which the city’s high-end tourism continues to grow — towards experiences shaped by architecture, authenticity, heritage and a strong sense of place.
Among the hotels selected for the 2026 Prix Versailles list are properties from France, Italy, China, Germany, Thailand, Morocco, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and other destinations. In such company, Villa Dubrovnik stands proudly as Croatia’s representative on one of the world’s most prestigious design and hospitality stages.
