Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra announces International Opera Arias Festival ‘Tino Pattiera’ which will take place in Dubrovnik from 30th June until 4th July 2016. This is a 10th year of the festival named after and organized in the memory of the world famous tenor Tino Pattiera, born 1890 in Cavtat, a town situated about twenty kilometres away from Dubrovnik, one of major popular singers at the opera houses both in Europe and worldwide in the first half of the 20th century.
He was the leading singer at the Royal Saxon Court Opera in Dresden and member of the Berlin State Opera. A tenor of a specific voice, he masterfully interpreted lyrical and dramatic title roles in operas by Bizet, Gounod, Auber, Leoncavallo, Massenet, Meyerber, Tchaikovsky, Moussorgsky, Verdi, Puccini, Wagner, Strauss… and appeared with: Meta Seinemyer, Elisabetha Rethberg, Irma Tewrvani, Nelena Torti, Helena Jung, Mini Nast, Margareta Siems, Eva von der Osten, Erna Berger, Anka Horvat, Fridrich Plaschke, Robert Burg, Fritz Volgestrom, Richard Tauber, Adolf Lusman, Ivar Andresen, Curt Tauchnner, Max Hirzel, Paul Schoffler, Kurt Bohme, Mathieu A. Mayer and others.
Music director of the festival is Israeli counductor Noam Zur, living and working in Germany, performs all around the Europe and world. Maestro Zur will be conducting the concerts and at the festival will perform excellent singers: soprano Liana Aleksanyan (Austria), mezzosprano Ursula Hesse von den Steinen (Germany), tenor Xavier Moreno (Spain) bass Taras Konoshchenko (Ukraine) and pianist Stefani Grbić (Croatia).
The festival will start with a big concert in front of the Rector’s Palace at 9.30 pm and will be named “Chansons d’amour.” Four soloists with the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by maestro Noam Zur will perform arias from renowned operas such as ‘Voici des Roses’ from The Damnation of Faust by H. Berlioz, ‘La fleur que tu m’avais jatée’ from Bizet’s Carmen, ‘E lucevan le stelle’ from Puccini’s Tosca, ‘Un bel di’ from Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, ‘Paris, o cara’ from Verdi’s Traviata, ‘Nessun dorma’ from Puccini’s opera Turandot and many others. It will be the evening of love music in the unique ambience of Dubrovnik, in front of one of its most beautiful places – the Rector’s Palace.
The second concert ‘Guardi le stelle’ was reserved for the sponsor, Dubrovnik Sun Gardens and its sponsors.
On July 2nd a recital named ‘Seriously romantic’ which will be performed at the Rector’s Palace by mezzosoprano Ursula Hesse von den Steinen, bass Taras Konoshchenko and pianist Stefani Grbić. The program contains works from the Romantic period: Brahms’s Four Serious Songs (Vier ernste Gesänge, op. 121), Brahms’ Three Lieders, and Mahler’s Lieder from ‘Des Knaben Wunderhorn’ (The Youth’s Magic Horn’).
The final concert of the festival, ‘Opera buffa’ will also take place in the Rector’s Palace atrium. Opera buffa is an Italian term meaning „comic opera“ that appeared in 18th century. The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by Noam Zur and the four soloists operas arias ‘Caro elisir’, ‘Dulcamara, voglio dire’ and ‘Udite, udite’ from Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, “Il capro e la capretta” and ‘La vendetta’ from Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, ‘Ich lade gern mir Gäaste ein’ from Strauss’s Die Dledermaus, ‘Danza delle ore’ from Ponchielli’s La Gioconda and many other opera arias from famous composer’s operas.
