Welcome the New 2022 Enjoying the Gorgeous Winter Festival Program

A fun and interesting program awaits us at the Dubrovnik Winter Festival as we finally say goodbye to this year. The concert program, which will be held on Stradun these days, will open today, December 29, at 8 p.m. with a performance by the great musician Marko Škugor, knows also as the José Carreras of Šibenik, due to his impressive vocal abilities.

Children’s New Year’s Eve program begins tomorrow, December 30, at 11 a.m. with a concert by the popular singer Domenica, after which ‘Moto mrazovi’ (Moto Clauses) will traditionally visit the children on their motorbikes bearing all sorts of gifts.
As part of the Colourful Winter program in the Bay of Lapad on the same day, all youngsters can expect creative and educational workshops prepared by the Futura IT Club and the Technical Culture Association of the City of Dubrovnik. Starting precisely at 10 a.m. at the Sunset Beach Canteen, as a part of the Colourful Circuit workshop, all participants will be able to learn what electricity is and how to connect basic circuits with specialized sets. The Brushbot workshop is scheduled at same place at 12 o’clock where they can learn how to make a robot from a toothbrush, a vibrating motor and a battery. As for those eager to paint and play with colour, the educational colouring book ‘E-growing’ up will be presented and coloured.

On New Year’s Eve, December 31, Dubrovnik bartenders will prepare a New Year’s cocktail party in front of the Gradska Kavana while the bands Silente and Vatra will be in charge of the main program in the evening hours, culminating with spectacular fireworks at midnight.

The first day of 2022 is traditionally reserved for the Dalmatian chanson. All visitors of the Old Town will therefore be able to enjoy our most famous klapa, Rišpet, on Stradun, at 8 p.m.

The Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra conducted by Marco Tardue with soloists Maja Grgić, Lucija Pećar Končić and Tanja Ruždjak will perform at the Rixos Premium Hotel Dubrovnik, on January 1, at 7 p.m. The concert will be free of charge with prior reservation needed, and attendance at this, as well as all other concerts that will be held on Stradun, is possible only with a valid EU COVID certificate.
