Windsurfing World Championships Begin On Viganj

The picturesque village of Viganj on the Peljesac peninsula plays host to the ‘ESET Nod 32 Antivirus’ Formula Windsurfing World Championship this week. From the 8th until the 13th of July the tiny windsurfing capital of Croatia will be home to 150 competitors from all over the world battling it out for a top prize.

Viganj is a unique place to visit with a combination of camp sites and private accommodation all within metres of the shore and has been attracting windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts for decades due to its favourable wind, maestral. San Fransisco was the competition for Viganj in hosting the event this year. With several restaurants offering everything from traditional dalmatian dishes to Spanish tapas and the retro-cool K2 beach bar it’s worth a visit even when not hosting a competition of this scale.

A special program of events have been organised to coincide with the competition:

08.07. Opening windsurfing party, Viganj
09.07. Open air concert (Gustafi), Viganj
11.07. Jazz and wine night, Viganj
13.07. Farewell windsurfing party, Viganj
