Mostar native Marijo Maduna won the title of best photograph in the fabulous ‘Motion’ category at the annual Girl Power Awards. A spectacular black-and-white photograph captures a woman jumping off a cliff on the island of Lokrum while her friends stand in the background waiting for their turn.
Mister Maduna is one of the ten winners in various categories at the Sony World Photography Awards 2021, which awards the best single photographs from 2020.
Originally from Mostar, Maduna first started diving into photography about 6-7 years ago and took this breathtaking winning photo in September 2020 while on vacation with family and friends in Dubrovnik.
“Our good friend Kristina Čaveliš, from Žuljana on Pelješac, decided to jump off a rock and as it happens, I brought the camera. I found the angle I liked, adjusted the settings to ‘sequential shooting’ and waited for her to jump. When I saw Kiki jumping so skilfully, I asked her to repeat the jump and this photo was taken from that second attempt,” Marijo explained for Croatiaweek.com.
