Dubrovnik citizens celebrated Assumption!

Assumption is the biggest feast of the catholic year dedicated to the Virgin Mary and celebrating her Assumption of Mary into heaven, her body and soul. Catholic believers in Croatia, especially respect Jesus’ mother, so this day was also made a public holiday in the Republic of Croatia. In Dubrovnik Diocese where several parishes carry the name of the Assumption, Dubrovnik Cathedral was hence also dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven.

Yesterday, on the day of the Feast of the Assumption, Bishop of Dubrovnik Msgr. Mate Uzinic led the evening Eucharistic celebration in the Dubrovnik Cathedral of Our Lady of the Great, followed by a procession with the image of Jesus’ mother of Porat and blessed the old port.

In Dubrovnik old town’s harbor, bishop said the prayer to the Mother of Jesus, the safe-keeper of boats, ships and seamen.
