Iconic ‘Al Mirqab’ is Gracing Dubrovnik’s Port Gruž

Head-turning ‘Al Mirqab’, the 133 metres long world-famous superyacht had officially opened the yacht season in Dubrovnik, anchoring in Port Gruž. The award-winning luxury mega yacht was built especially for Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, the former Prime Minister of Qatar, and a member of the powerful Al Thani family.  Still in the top five percent of the largest yachts in the world, ‘Al Mirqab’ was launched in 2008 by Peterswerft-Kusch, with two of the top superyacht designers, Tim Heywood and Andrew Winch, working on it.

It has the largest spa that Winch Design has ever worked on, an enclosed pool and balcony terraces that fold down over the sea, a helicopter pad with a refuelling station which was a first for Heywood as well at the time, and can accommodate as many as 60 people in addition to 60 qualified crew. Other interesting spaces on board include a beach club, gym, a family lounge overlooking the bow, and underwater viewing room the Al Thani family is said to adore.
