Join us at The Spectacular Night at the Museums in Dubrovnik!

Each year, Dubrovnik joins the spectacular event ‘Night at the Museums’, this ear with amazingly rich and interesting programme and free entrance.

The programme will take place in different locations, each of them with the great night ahead us! So, be a part of this cultural manifestation, and Just Dubrovnik brings you the complete guide on January 27 from 6 pm to 1 am!

The House of Marin Držić

In 2017, House of Marin Držić remembers one of the greatest writers that lived in Dubrovnik – Marin Držić himself. This night will be the unique opportunity to meet the great comediograph and his work. During the night, entrance is free, and all the articles, books, jewerly and all the interesting memorabilia from museum gift shop are 30 percent off.

From 6. 30 pm to 9 pm: Ansambl Plazarius: renaissance music concert
From 7 pm to 1 am: Opening of the exhibition: ‘In search for renaissance – the glass findings from the archeological sites on Dubrovnik area’. This exhibition, as said in its title, presents the findings from different sites in and around Dubrovnik, with a special mentioning of the findings from renaissance, the period Marin Držić worked and lived in.

From 7.30 pm to 10 pm: Taste the tradition – delicacies from Marin Držić age – authentical dishes mentioned in works of Marin Držić tor you to enjoy the tradition in gastronomical way!

Dubrovnik Natural Science Museum

From 6 pm to 6.30 pm: A magical world of the nocturnal butterflies and moths / lecture
Do you know what are moths and how to recognize them? How they flight in the night and why they come to the lights? How many moths are ther in Croatia? Find the answer on these questions in the Night of the Museums!
From 6.30 pm to 6. 45 pm – Quiz about the topic from the previous lecture with some awards!
From 6.45 to 8.30: Workshop: ‘Let’s spread those multicolored winds’ for all the children who want to color the paper and make some amazing butterfly art!

From 7.30 pm: Lepidoptera / The Exhibition – visitors will enjoy new specimens in the collection of insects of the Museum, and get to know more about the rich fauna of butterflies in the Dubrovnik area.

The Museum of Modern Art / MOMA Dubrovnik
MOMA Dubrovnik prepared a special programme, marked mostly with musical notes, since the music is the theme of this year’s ‘Night at the Museums’.

From 7 pm to the end of the evening: DU Rock Parade – traditional concert of the local bands
From 8 pm – professional curatorial lecture about the permanent exhibition

Dulčić Masle Pulitika Gallery (part of the MOMA Dubrovnik)
From 6 pm to 7 pm: ‘Kosta Strajnić, Dubrovnik Art Circle and newcomer painters’, lecture by dr. sc. Rozana Vojvoda i art historician Ivan Viđen
From 7 pm – ‘Musical colors of the Mediterranean’ by the ‘Sve ostalo je glazba’ Music Association

Atelier Pulitika (part of the MOMA Dubrovnik)

From 8 pm – traditional Russian music performed by Croatian – Russian Society ‘Art without boundaries’, connected with the Orenburg lace exhibition. Helena Tomašković is on the piano, Adrian Ivčević on cello and Elvira Galioulline on violin.
