The annual Zelena Menestra Festival was held on Gruda in Konavle on Sunday as part of the ‘Scents of Christmas’ programme put together by Agrotourism Konavle. Hosted by famous Croatian actress (and Konavle local), Jelena Percin, the competition brought foodies from all over Dubrovnik to the small village.
Each of the 18 teams prepared Zelena Menestra (green stew) to their own secret recipe, hoping to scoop the top prize. The popular event packed out the village hall with many coming to sample the entrants’ offer. Judging on the day were Japanese tourists as well as local food experts. County Agreement took the top prize with 76 points though a special prize went to tame Zupaho for most original performance, with their supporters dressed as Amish people.
