Over 20,000 Tourists To Dubrovnik in January and February

Since the beginning of 2014 until March 8th, the number of tourists who visited Dubrovnik has increased considerably. In the first months of this year Dubrovnik Tourist Board registered 22,823 arrivals (20 percent increase compared to the same period in 2013) and 65,994 overnight stays (a 26 percent on 2013 figures).

The majority of the guests were from Croatia with a total of 7,371 of domestic visitors and 24,254 overnight stays, which represents a 35 percent influx in traffic. 2,506 guests were registered coming from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with 9,337 overnight stays resulting in 14% of the total income. Korean tourists follow in number with 3,663 staying in Dubrovnik. Albanian, British, American and Japanese Tourists followed closely behind.

Since the beginning of the year, Dubrovnik Tourist Board has attended  several tourism fairs around Europe ( Spain, Ireland, Germany, Serbia) and the United States of America. Several special presentations of Dubrovnik were held in Chicago, New York and Bad Homburg in Germany.

In April, as a part of collaboration with the Tourist Board of Dubrovnik – Neretva County, Dubrovnik’s tourist offer will be presented at the tourist SITC Fair in Barcelona and at the World Travel Market in Sao Paulo, Brazil. For these two occasions the Dubrovnik Tourist Board will prepare a special presentation in cooperation with the Croatian Tourist Board in Madrid. It will include a photo shoot with the steel throne from HBC’s ” Game of Thrones ” and numerous competitions via social networks.

In order to be well prepared for the coming summer season, the city of Dubrovnik will also make some alterations. Mayor Andro Vlahusic announced intense preparations for the summer season and the implementation of multiple infrastructural projects in the city: increasing the number of utility monitors during the summer months in Dubrovnik, organizing bus transport through Dubrovnik, setting up tables and chairs in the city centre.
