A statue of Pope John Paul II was officially unveiled and blessed in Gruz on Thursday. The statue is located where the Pope held mass in Dubrovnik ten years ago in 2003 for thousands of followers. Pope John Paul visited Croatia a total of three times during his time at the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Dubrovnik Bishop Mate Uzinic blessed the statue during the official ceremony telling attendees, ” I’m pleased that the statue is at the place where the Pope was which turns the place in to an eternal memory.”
