Brits enjoying their Sunday papers this morning will have discovered that Dubrovnik is home to two of the Mediterranean’s top50 beach hotels. Renowned newspaper the Sunday Times headline travel piece lists the top beach hotels for summer 2014, with La Villa on Lopud and Hotel Bellevue just outside of the Old Town, both making the grade. Only two hotels in Croatia made the top 50, both of them located in Dubrovnik.
Alessia Horwich writes of La Villa,”…a charming stone-clad hotel with eight simple rooms and a terrace covered in vines , where the restaurant dishes up plates of barbequed fish and lobster linguine, all next to a superb small beach.” Lopud is most definitely a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik’s Old Town in the summer, the island’s Sunj beach is one of the regions best. Kids will love playing in the sand and the cocktail bars and restaurant provide ‘entertainment’ for adults.
Hotel Bellevue is second Dubrovnik hotel to make Horwich’s list,”…whizz down to the secluded pebble beach below Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik in a glass elevator…all you’ll be capable of doing is standing. transfixed by the views of the Adriatic.”
