Šunj Beach on Lopud island is on the top list of the best European beaches to enjoy in 2017. Since we are waiting for summer (and freezing in the meantime), news like this make us very happy.
Lopud’s famous sandy beach Šunj is, according to The Sunday Times, ranked #39 best beach in Europe. Here’s what they wrote about it:
Smart people, aristocrats. Three centuries ago, they escaped Dubrovnik’s summer crush to tiny Lopud. While they holidayed in its lovely harbor, the color of old ivory, you should traverse the island on a herb-scented path to Sunj for a day of simple pleasures: shallow seas that are safe for tots, a palm-thatch bar and a scimitar of sand fine enough for castles. Ferry timetables show Dubrovnik’s an hour away. It feels like decades.
