‘Kolenda’, traditional carol song from Dubrovnik, was performed this Tuesday in Bunić Kaboga summer residence by cutest vocal group – Dubrovnik Children Choir!
Folllowing the tradition, children wanted to learn all types of kolenda. They performed in many different events in Dubrovnik, spreading the idea of keeping the heritage live.
Kolenda dates back to 13th century, when young people did the chorals (kolednavali) in front of the noblemen houses in Dubrovnik. Gifts for them were oranges, wine, pastry, and even money.
Still, kids sing kolenda in front of the houses at Christmas eve, which brings back the good old customs. Have a special evening with Dubrovnik’s kolenda we attach below!
