Premiere of the ‘Cure: The Life of another’

A premiere of the movie ‘Cure: The Life of another’ of Andrea Staka was shown yesterday at the Sloboda (Freedom) cinema. Movie, inspired by the true story, attracted many Dubrovnik citizens to its first night. Check out our Photo Gallery to find out who was there.
The story:
In 1993, a fourteen year-old Linda returned from Switzerland to Croatia with her father. Her new best friend Eta invited her to the forbidden woods above the city. There, two girls started an obsessive, sexually colored game of mistaken identity which ends with fatal Eta´s fall. The following morning Linda returned alone and she begun to occupy Eta´s place in the family. She also connected with Eta´s boyfriend Ivo. Linda is in danger of losing her place in reality, being trapped in another world – a world where Eta comes back to help her to confront herself.

Biography:
Andrea Staka was born in 1973 in Switzerland where she graduated in directing at the Art Academy in Zurich. Her films, ‘Hotel Belgrade’ and ‘Yugodivas’ were screened at numerous film festivals, including Locarno, Sundance, Rotterdam, London, Pusan and AFI. From 1998 to 2006, Andrea Staka has lived in New York. Her feature film DAS FRÄULEIN (MISS) won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival and Heart of Sarajevo at the Sarajevo Film Festival in 2006. She founded Okofilm Productions in 2007 along with the director and producer Thomas Imbach. She produced the Day Is Done and MARY, QUEEN OF SCOTS. She is a member of the European Movie Academy.
