Passengers flying with Croatia Airlines will once again be introduced to the flavours of Dalmatia before they even touch down.
From August 1 to November 30, selected travellers will receive specially prepared gastronomic packages as part of Dalmatinska marenda, an initiative that has been promoting local cuisine as an essential part of the Croatian travel experience for four consecutive years.
Bringing together the tourism industry, hospitality businesses and local producers, the project presents traditional Dalmatian ingredients and specialities to both domestic and international visitors — this time, high above the Adriatic.
A Small Package Filled with Dalmatian Flavours
This year’s in-flight packages will feature a carefully selected combination of prosciutto, black olive spread, olive oil and rosemary crackers, traditional bobići biscuits and candied almonds.
The selection offers passengers a first taste of the region’s culinary identity, turning an ordinary in-flight snack into an introduction to Dalmatian traditions, ingredients and Mediterranean lifestyle.
The idea behind the project is simple: the experience of a destination does not begin at the airport or hotel, but can start during the journey itself.
Connecting Dalmatia with Europe
Strong air connections remain an important part of the initiative. During this year’s summer season, Croatia Airlines is connecting Split with 21 destinations through 22 airports, including the newly introduced Split–Nantes route.
The project also arrives at an important moment for the region, as Central Dalmatia continues to strengthen its position on Europe’s gastronomic map ahead of becoming the European Region of Gastronomy 2027.
Through Dalmatinska marenda, local produce and traditional recipes become one of the first encounters many international visitors have with the destination — and another way of presenting Dalmatian identity to the world.
The initiative is jointly organised by the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board, the Split Tourist Board and Croatia Airlines, with the support of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
Its wider goal is to promote Dalmatian gastronomy, support local producers and encourage greater use of regional ingredients throughout the tourism and hospitality sector.
