CNN: Dubrovnik’s St. John’s Fort One Of Croatia’s Most Beautiful Places

Croatia is on the cover of the CNN.com once again! In   “Croatia’s 20 most beautiful places” published on CNN’s Travel pages, journalists in collaboration with Croatian National Tourist Board have created an mesmerising gallery of Croatian nature, history, and geographical beauties and Dubrovnik’s St.John Fort finds itself on the list.

“Forget about “Game of Thrones”. You can explore the fictional kingdoms of Westeros without sword fights and scheming. Much of the fantasy series, which returns to international TV screens this week, was filmed in Croatia. Thankfully the real Westeros is more accommodating to visitors — and has considerably fewer dragons.” says the text which lists the 20 places that everyone must see in Croatia, including the St. John Fort in Dubrovnik.

”Part of Dubrovnik’s old wall, St. John Fort, was once the main defence of the city and one of its most important fortresses. Often called Mulo Tower, the wall controlled entry to the old port from the southeast. For a symbolic $18 per adult and $6 per child, you can walk along the old city walls, which are connected to Fort Minčeta and St. Luke Fort.”

On the list of the greatest Croatian places are the National park of South Velebit, Veli rat, Trakošćan castle, greeting the sun in Zadar, Amphitheatre Arena Pula, Zlatni Rat in Brac, Rovinj, Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, Festinsko kraljevstvo, Trogir, Osijek, Cathedrals in Split and Sibenik, and many many others.
