Fourteen of Dubrovnik’s hotels have offered special Valentine’s packages for couples this year. Here, in one of the most romantic cities in the world, around 1000 loved up tourists will spend this Valentine’s weekend.
Dubrovnik over the decades has attracted many famous couples who have enjoyed the ambiance the walled city offers: Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Sophia Loren and Carl Ponti, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas and Beyonce and Jay Z to name a few. Each year around 100 couples travel to Dubrovnik from abroad to say ‘I do’, using the City as the perfect back drop to their wedding album. Dubrovnik also provided an early setting for the scandalous romance between British King Edward and his partner American Wallis Simpson when they stayed at the Imperial Hotel ( now the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik).
