A New Dubrovnik Service Brings Morning Delivery Straight to the Door

A small idea that could make a big difference

A new local concept was presented this morning at Višnjica, one of Dubrovnik’s most beautiful spots overlooking the city, and it may prove to be a very practical addition to the city’s private accommodation scene. The idea is simple, but timely: freshly prepared breakfasts delivered directly to the door of apartments and holiday homes.

Behind the project is local platform Škatulin and its founder Marko Zvono, who set out to respond to something many Dubrovnik hosts have recognised for years guests often want breakfast, but private accommodation rarely has the structure to provide it as an extra service.

A service built around what guests already expect

According to Zvono, that gap in the market was the key reason for launching the service. He pointed to research by Booking.com across 32 destinations showing that more than 40 percent of guests would be more likely to book accommodation if breakfast were included. That, he explained, was a strong signal that this was a service worth developing.

And in today’s accommodation market, it is easy to see why. When location, photos and style often feel equally strong across different listings, a thoughtful extra like breakfast can become the detail that helps one property stand out from another.

Breakfast comes to the guest — not the other way around

The concept is designed to be simple and flexible. The current offer includes seven different breakfast boxes, each priced at €15, ranging from classic breakfast options to vegan, children’s and sweet versions.

The idea is broad enough to suit different guest habits, but also adaptable. Ingredients can be adjusted when ordering through the website, which is especially useful for allergies, intolerances or specific dietary preferences.

Easy to order, easy to deliver

The ordering process follows the logic most visitors already expect. Everything is done online, with orders placed by 9 pm the evening before. Guests can choose to pay in advance or on delivery, and breakfast then arrives at a pre-arranged time, directly at the accommodation address.

It is a service designed not to complicate a stay, but to make it feel smoother and more comfortable.

First impressions were encouraging

Today’s presentation also included a tasting, giving guests and partners the chance to try the product for themselves. Judging by the reactions, the first impression worked in the concept’s favour.

The team behind Škatulin said they wanted to introduce the idea in a setting that reflected the spirit of Dubrovnik, attractive, local and welcoming ,and added that the feedback so far had been entirely positive.

A practical upgrade for private accommodation

What makes the concept particularly interesting is that it does not try to turn private hosts into hotels. Instead, it offers a realistic solution to something guests increasingly expect but hosts often cannot provide on their own.

That is where its value lies. It is not a dramatic reinvention of the accommodation offer, but a smart upgrade — the kind of small service that can make a stay feel more complete.

And in a city like Dubrovnik, where private accommodation plays such a central role in tourism, that kind of upgrade may matter more than it first appears.
