The European Museum Day: Children will learn about their heritage

Two upcoming celebrations – the European night of museums and International Museum Day, will be celebrated at Dubrovnik archives. For this occasion, museums have prepared a rich program. The theme of this year’s International Museum Day is ‘Museums for a sustainable society’. The goal of this program is to involve institutions in the life of the community and to promote museums as places for the alternative education.

On May 16th, a small school of ethnology will be held to introduce the heritage in situ. Except for the curators and ethnologists, children will have the opportunity to learn from the local tradition ‘keepers’. The workshop also includes the tour to the Regional Museum in Cilipi, Divanovic mills, Konavle house, ethnic collections of Bokarica family, and medieval city and fortress Soko Grad in Danube.
Celebration of International Museum Day concludes by presenting an extensive catalog called ‘Saint Blaise in History and Present,’ at the Rector’s Palace, on Monday 18th of May at 11 am.
